Seller's Description
Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Chassis No. HBJ8L/42725G Engine No. 29KRUH/17337 Body No. 87597 Perhaps you have always wanted an Austin-Healey in your garage, but with the prices they are currently bringing it’s really just a matter of wishful thinking. Well here’s your chance to gain ownership and test your skills at a complete restoration. The Austin-Healey 3000 Mk3 was built from late 1963 through to November 1967 and to many due to its wind-up windows, timber dash and 148bhp engine it is seen as the Austin-Healey to own. This is a very late example built in October 1967 and dispatched to Canada. It is also one of 553 cars that were originally finished in Metallic Golden Beige. As you can see from the photos this car requires a complete restoration, but on close inspection it should be reasonable straightforward. Apart from outriggers, the main chassis appears sound, but it will require new floors and sills. Of course all mechanicals will require rebuilding which is standard for any restoration. Yes it will probably require a little explanation when you bring it home, but armed with the knowledge that restored Austin-Healey 3000 Mk3s are bringing in excess of $100K you shouldn’t have any problem on that front. This restoration project is being sold on behalf of its owner.
