Seller's Description
We are pleased to offer for sale a spectacular ‘Restomod’ Jaguar XJC.
The current owner acquired this car around 5 years ago to accompany a large collection of British cars and he wished to apply his own stamp to make it unique.
The car was completely repainted in a striking ‘Chilli Red’ as used on the Range Rover Sport. The interior was reupholstered and extensive mechanical work undertaken.
The paint is spectacular and generally excellent across the car. However, on close inspection there has been a paint reaction on a small area to the rear of the turret and also in the area under the rear passenger window. However, they do not detract from the overall appearance and are only visible on close inspection.
Externally modifications include the use of Series 1 bumpers (removing the overriders), the use of Series 3 door handles, boot lid and tail lights with modern badging and grill treatment. New alloy wheels are also present giving it a more purposeful stance.
Inside the car is a lovely place to be. You are greeted by a period-correct sports steering wheel which compliments the car well. The gauges and dash are all in excellent order. The car has now has black carpets and the interior has been upholstered using a more practical light magnolia vinyl of excellent quality (you would think it was leather). The headlining presents as new. The owner has also improved the speed of the rear window action by introducing relays in their circuits. Overall, the interior is just wonderful.
A new air-conditioning kit was purchased with the majority of it installed however it needs some final connection to be operational.
Other notable work includes a refurbished gearbox, fitment of a Spiteri 6 branch exhaust manifold, refreshed wiring harness, complete exhaust, and other engine components.
The engine itself runs with triple SU carburettors and reputedly has a warmed cam fitted making for a spirited drive when required.
Unfortunately, the owner now needs to sell the car prior to its completion however it is drivable with only minor items required to finish it including the AC and the need to attend to a small weep from one of the fuel tanks.
He has invested over $50,000 in the car excluding the purchase price. A good history file accompanies the car.
The XJ-C is a relatively rare car made only between 1975 and 1977 and in quite limited numbers. Their pillarless shape has always attracted a following with collectors. Although not one for the purists this represents and great opportunity for the next owner to acquire a spectacular car for a fraction of the investment made.
This car has some real presence and combines classic appeal with modern conveniences and comfort. The car is located in Brisbane.
