Just arrived - This 1978 Holden Torana UC SL Hatchback is a tastefully upgraded Aussie classic, ready to rumble. This UC SL Torana was assembled in Dandenong and started life as a Caribbean Turquoise car, with a Chamois Vinyl interior, a 202 (3.3L) 6 cylinder motor, and a 3-speed 'trimatic' automatic transmission. Discovered as a barn find, the current owner purchased the car in 2007 and initiated a major restoration process. The car was brought back to bare metal before it received extensive rust fixes. After some panels were replaced, the entire car was primed and repainted in an eye-catching yellow and black scheme, with anti-chip coating on the underside. The Torana is now powered by a VH-era 5L V8 that was completely rebuilt before being dropped in the car, and retained its 3-speed automatic transmission. This saw the motor tricked up with big valve heads, all new JCC pistons, a 286 cam, twin thermo fans, Advanced Headers extractors, and a fresh twin system exhaust. Plenty more work went in, like disc brake rear, restored petrol tank, and all new suspension. The interior was soundproof before being completely retrimmed, and has been retrofitted with electric windows and mirrors, and a modern Pioneer radio with Bluetooth. Since it was finished, the Torana has covered approximately 7000km. Today, this humble UC sounds big and mighty, and sits beautifully on a set of Centreline wheels. It presents very nicely, hula girl included, and would make a wonderful club cruiser to enjoy on the weekends. There is a file of images documenting the build process, and a digital workshop manual to go with the car.
