The 380SL is widely regarded as the “sweet spot” of the R107 range – lighter by some 150kg than the 560SL and far better value (top examples of 560SLs now exceed $175,000). 380SLs manufactured later also had significant upgrades over earlier 107s including: improved V8 Engine with lighter aluminium block, four speed transmission replacing three speed, ABS braking system, cruise control, upgraded fuel injection system, improved crash protection, and refined suspension and steering. She owned it for 20 years before purchase by long-term owner Mr Jones of Ashburton. It later joined a Melbourne collection before being acquired by the current owner.
