Seller's Description
A true product of its era, the 1997 Rover 825 (Sterling) Coupé represents a time when British luxury met Japanese engineering in a way few manufacturers managed.
Built as the flagship two-door of the Rover 800 range, the Coupé was never a common sight when new, and today, it’s a genuine rarity.
At its core lies the renowned 2500cc (same engine as the later 75), delivering smooth, refined power, effortless cruising, strong mid-range performance and impressive long-distance composure were hallmarks of the model, a luxury grand tourer of its time.
Paired with an automatic transmission, it offers a relaxed, refined driving experience rather than outright aggression.

Where this car truly stands apart is in its luxury. This was Rover at its peak, Connolly leather, real wood veneers, soft-touch materials, and an unmistakably British ambience. It was designed to rival the likes of Jaguar and BMW, yet delivered its own unique character - understated, elegant, and quietly confident.
The Coupé body itself adds another layer of desirability. Produced in far smaller numbers than the saloon, it offers pillarless styling, sleek lines, and a grand touring presence that has aged remarkably well. These were never mass-produced in large volumes, and survival rates today are low, making any well-kept example particularly appealing.
From a market perspective, the value proposition is compelling. These cars remain remarkably affordable for what they offer; true V6 luxury, rarity, and classic status, yet the signs of appreciation are beginning to show as enthusiasts recognise their uniqueness and historical significance. As with many overlooked ‘90s classics, the window to buy well is narrowing.
In summary, the Rover 825 Coupé is not just a car, it’s an experience. A blend of comfort, character, and collectibility, offering exceptional value in today’s classic market. Increasingly rare, undeniably distinctive, and poised for future appreciation, it represents one of the more interesting and under-the-radar modern classics available today.
