Launched in 2005, the XK was the second generation to the XK8, available at release in both a coupe and convertible body style, featured an aluminium monocoque body structure and Jaguar’s vastly improved AJ33 4.2 litre V8, equipped with four valves per cylinder and double overhead camshafts, generating 224 kW of power and 411 Nm of torque, capable of propelling the convertible from standstill to 100 kph in claimed 6.3 seconds. The XK is a superb cruiser, commendably quiet, with smooth shifting through the six-speed automatic gearbox.
This Australian delivered XK was delivered by Trivett Jaguar of East Sydney, complete with original books and history. Finished in the desirable combination of ‘Dark Sapphire Metallic’ with contrasting Caramel leather interior, walnut trim inserts, sitting on factory optioned 20” alloy wheels, this proves to be a stunning convertible.
Inside the XK, the suspension noise is well suppressed and the big cat flattens even the worst road imperfections with little disturbance finding its way into the cabin. The electrically operated Blue fabric roof operates in an 18 second open/close time, with the push of a button and to provide peace of mind, the mechanism has had a recent major overhaul by Aston Martin Garage of Ringwood.
The Jaguar XK is one of those rare grand touring cars with seemingly endless talents. It makes you a happy driver, it coddles you in comfort while egging you on into spirited driving, and it makes other drivers green with envy.
