Alfa Romeo updates Giulia
Alfa Romeo Australia have announced an update to their Giulia sedan for 2023, with minor cosmetic and specification changes applicable to all three model grades – Ti, Veloce and Quadrifolgio.
The Ti is a new Giulia grade for 2023 (the Sport grade was dropped last year), but the Veloce and Quadrifoglio grades carry over. Both the Ti and Veloce arrived in June, with the Quadrifoglio due to reach local dealerships from Q4, 2023.
The updated Giulia comes with new-look inserts for the signature ‘Trilobo’ grille and lower air vents, consisting of a larger and more open mesh pattern. Full-LED Matrix adaptive headlights have been incorporated in place of bi-xenon units, while the tail lights gain a new dark finish.
Inside, the major change is to the ‘Cannocchiale’ (telescope) instrument panel, which now houses a larger 12.3-inch colour TFT screen from the Tonale SUV. The screen’s increased size (previously 7.0 inches) allows for easier accessability and system navigation, says Alfa Romeo Australia. The centre console touchscreen remains unchanged at 8.8 inches.
Finally, the Veloce grade’s optional Lusso pack that includes an alarm, additional leather cabin trim and a premium, 14-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, will now be fitted as standard. However, the adaptive suspension that was previously part of the Lusso pack is not included this time around.
These cosmetic and specification upgrades aside, the MY23.5 Giulia is unchanged, with the Ti and Veloce grades powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 206kW, 400Nm and “superior dynamic response”, with combined cycle fuel economy of 6.1lt/100km.
The Veloce adds a self-locking rear diff that the Ti misses out on, as well as sportier seats and cosmetic upgrades inside and out.
Details on the Giulia Quadrifoglio have yet to be released, but it will presumably continue to run its 2.9-litre twin turbo V6 that produces 385kW and 600Nm. An eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive are common to all Giulia grades.
Pricing for the MY23.5 update Giulia Veloce has increased by $3,000 to $74,950, while the new Giulia Ti is priced at $68,450 (excluding ORCs), which is a $4,500 increase on the previous entry-level Giulia Sport. Pricing for the MY23.5 Giulia Quadrifoglio will be announced closer to local release.
