Auction Car Highlights
With 50 vehicles on offer, this auction has plenty to choose from, to suit just about any automotive taste and budget.
Here are some highlights for last-minute buyers…
Lot 78 – 1965 Chevrolet Impala SS
Genuine LA-built lowrider, hydraulic suspension, scissor doors, reverse bonnet, cantilever boot, 13-inch wire spoke wheels.
Undeniably the standout lot in the Christmas auction, this ’65 Impala SS is a genuine, California custom lowrider, built in 2014 by Gabriel Mijares, founder of the Socios Lowrider Club.
While the body retains its factory lines, the panels open in a way that’s anything but factory, with the bonnet hinged from the front, the bootlid rising vertically and the doors tilting forward, Lamborghini-style.
Adding to all this is a highly-detailed custom paint job in shades of blue, purple and pink, incorporating patterns, stripes, fades and candy effects.
Other exterior details include engraving on the door handles and tail light surrounds, etched glass in the quarter windows, dual antennas, blue halo LEDs, LED underbody lighting and the signature Cal-look lowrider feature of undersized 13-inch wire spoke wheels with whitewall tyres.
Under the bonnet, the engine features rocker covers and a custom air cleaner cover with detailed engraving, with the undercarriage fully detailed, too, including chromed suspension arms, diff and drum brake covers. There are also painted patterns on the inner guards and chassis rails, as well as painted floorpans.
The drivetrain is the least modified part of this creation, made up of a 350 V8, Muncie four-speed manual and 10-bolt diff.
Inside, the seats, doorcards and headlining are trimmed in blue, purple and pink to complement the exterior patterning, while bright blue carpet lines the floors. The dash and parcel shelf are painted in patterns, and while the instrumentation remains factory, auxiliary gauges have been added.
An aftermarket sunroof has been cut in and there’s an oversized dice shifter knob, too.
In the boot, the twin pumps and four batteries for the car’s hydraulically-controlled suspension are encased in a Perspex box labelled ‘La Loquera,’ which roughly translates from Spanish as ‘padded cell’. Big subwoofers for the car’s comprehensive sound system also reside in the boot.

Lot 72 – 1967 Ford XR Falcon ute
GT inspired full custom build, 383 stroker, C4 auto, disc brake front, fully engineered in NSW.
Purchased by the current owner in 2016 as an unfinished project, this XR Falcon ute was completely rebuilt as a tough street machine with plenty of dragstrip potential.
As bought, the rear had already had mini tubs added, which allow for 15x10-inch Outlaw Drag Intensity wheels and fat tyres at the back, while 17 x 4.5 rims were added at the front.
Additions by the new owner included a reverse cowl on the bonnet before the body was repainted in a custom mix Group 3 Brass pearl.
All the exterior chrome and stainless was either refurbished or replaced during the rebuild, with XR GT badges and decals added for the GT look.
The engine, a 351 Cleveland-based 383 stroker, was built by Jason Mansweto, with some of the componentry used including an Eagle crank, Scat H-beam rods, JE forged pistons, Yella Terra rockers and a custom Crow Cam.
A Demon 825 double pumper carb handles the induction and custom 2-inch Pacemaker headers with a 3-inch exhaust and Magnaflow mufflers handle the extraction.
Matched to the 383 is a C4 automatic, built by J Performance to handle up to 800hp and driving the rear wheels via a custom tail shaft and 9-inch diff.
Inside, this XR ute was treated to a custom-made dash with Autometer gauges and knobs from a Mustang, along with a carbon fibre vinyl fascia. Bucket seats and a centre console from an XY GT have been fitted, with the former retrimmed and XC Falcon retractable seat belts added.
The steering column is modified from an XY Falcon, while a Pioneer sound system modernises the sound system.
Finally, the ute tub has been repainted in the same Group 3 Brass pearl as the exterior, with Polyurea protective coating applied, too.

Lot 86 – 1959 Chevrolet Corvette roadster
Restomod rebuild, Art Morrison chassis, RHD conversion, supercharged LS3 V8, 4spd auto, 19-inch wheels.
Eight years in the making, this no-expense-spared build combines classic ‘50s styling with modern technology and offers the practicality of a right-hand drive conversion, too.
Underpinning the classic ’59 Corvette body is an Art Morrison chassis, with independent and fully-adjustable suspension all round for vastly improved handling, as well as power steering.
Brakes have been upgraded to 362mm discs all round, with 6-pot calipers on the front end and 4-pot calipers at the rear, while the wheels are 17-inch Hot Rod by Boyd alloys.
The bonnet is power-operated and the wipers have been removed, and while no removable soft or hard top is provided, the mounts remain in place for the next owner to add wet weather protection. The high-quality gloss black paint is contrasted with white in the coves, while all the chrome and stainless has been either refurbished or replaced.
Power comes from a GM LS3 V8 with an upgraded cam, performance heads and a special pulley system to handle the extra power provided by a Harrop supercharger, which is the engine’s finishing touch. The transmission is a crate GM 4L60E four-speed automatic, running to an Eaton locker diff with 3.45 gears, while the radiator, exhaust system and fuel tank were all custom-made for this project.
In the cabin, Italian leather has been used throughout, with Dakota Digital VHX series gauges in place of the factory instruments and a Lokar handle in place of the factory shifter.
The steering wheel is custom made and a push-button starter has been added, with the whole cabin modified to provide additional seating room and comfort.

Lot 34 – 1970 Holden HT Belmont panel van
Fresh restoration, GTS styling touches, 308 V8, 4spd manual, retrimmed interior, air con.
A professional panel beater and spray painter purchased this HT Belmont panel van as a project four years ago with the aim of rebuilding it as a mild custom.
The stock but solid body was stripped back to bare metal and repaired where needed (including adding replacement doors) before a reproduction GTS bonnet, guards and stone tray were added for an HT Monaro tribute look, enhanced by GTS hubcaps and red stripe tyres on the steel wheels.
Repainted in a deep gloss black, this finish was accented by subtle, GTS-style stripes in Candy Apple Red on the flanks and bonnet, with the front bumper rechromed and new exterior trim used throughout.
Inside, an HT GTS dash was fitted, along with new seat trims, carpets and headlining in the C1970 factory style, while the load area was lined with marine-grade ply on the floors and a replica of the factory speckle paint finish.
Underfloor storage in the rear on the driver’s side holds a car fridge and there’s a Bluetooth stereo mounted under the dash.
The factory driveline was replaced with a 308 V8 out of an HQ Statesman, matched to an M20 four-speed manual from an early Commodore, but the factory-fitted diff has been retained.
Suspension is also factory spec, but new springs and shocks have been fitted.
Completed barely a year ago, this van has been used sparingly since and combines cool looks with a practical drivetrain and the convenience of all that rear storage space.

Lot 52 – 2007 FPV GT R-Spec Cobra sedan
#112 of 400 made, unmodified from factory, low kms.
Inspired by the original XC Falcon Cobra hardtops from 1978, FPV released a tribute on the BF series FPV GT sedan in 2007. Like the original, the modern tribute was limited to 400 units.
This one, number 112 of the 400, was sold new in NSW and passed to another owner before coming into the vendor’s hands in 2008. All three owners have used the car sparingly, so the mileage reads just 7,664kms at time of consignment, with most of that done in the first few years, as the car has mostly been in storage since 2010.
Presenting as new inside, outside and underneath, the collector value of these modern Cobras has ensured no modifications have been made to the factory 5.4 V8, six-speed manual or any other components.
Factory logbooks, an owner’s manual and FPV owner’s compendium will be included in the sale.

Lot 53 – 2007 FPV Super Pursuit Cobra ute
#70 of 100 made, unmodified from factory, less than 5,000kms from new.
While the original XC Cobra from 1978 was never offered in utility form, FPV added a ute variant for the modern tribute that arrived in 2007. Unlike the FPV GT Cobra sedan, of which 400 examples were produced, ute numbers were limited to just 100, with many well-heeled buyers wanting a “matching set” of ute and sedan, ensuring the total quickly sold out.
This FPV Cobra ute is number 70 of 100 and was sold new in Queensland, being onsold a few years later then coming into the current owner’s hands in 2017.
All past owners have used the ute sparingly, so mileage is just 4,893km at time of consignment.
Use on gravel roads means the body has copped some stone chips (that have been touched up), but the rest of the ute presents well and the dash bears the signatures of both Craig Lowndes and Jamie Whincup.

Additional late-model muscle in this auction includes a 2007 Shelby GT500, an HSV VS GTS-R (#11 of 85 built) and an ultra-low mileage (1,596 miles) 2012 Mustang Boss 302.
There’s also a genuine HSV VL Group A ‘Walkinshaw’ Commodore up for grabs in this auction. Number 6 of 750 built, with 83K mileage and what’s described as the original Panorama Silver paint, along with an interior that’s all original, bar a modern stereo head unit, this car was formerly offered by the Classics for a Cause charity. The early build number and untouched original condition meant bidding on this car was already sitting at over $150,000 at time of writing.
Lot 62 – 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle
High-quality restoration, driveline upgrade, four-wheel disc brakes, interior upgrade.
The oversized Boss 338 wheels (18x8 front, 18x9.5 rear) are the only obvious clues to this metallic grey ’69 Chevelle being more than a factory-spec restoration.
Less obvious are the ghosted SS-style stripes, the de-badging and smoothing of the bumpers, but it’s under the bonnet where this car’s differences from a stock Chevelle become more apparent.
In place of something like a 327, 350 or 396 V8 this Chevelle would have likely run when new, there’s now a crate ZZ572 Big Block V8 from Chevy Performance Parts that’s fitted with a special fuel injection system that cost $20,000 alone.
An upgraded radiator with twin thermo fans keeps the monster V8 cool, with a full stainless steel exhaust system, Tremec five-speed manual and 12-bolt diff also part of this car’s drivetrain package. The engine’s size and complex intake system has seen the battery relocated to the boot.
Inside, the SS theme continues, with badging on the doorcards and steering wheel. Seats from TMI Products are trimmed in leather and suede, and feature additional bolstering. Dakota Digital illuminated gauges replace the factory instruments and there’s a pistol grip shifter for the five-speed, along with a custom steering wheel and modern sound system, but the rest of the interior retains a factory look.
Offering something different from the usual Camaro, Mustang and Firebird, this Chevelle also has the performance to blow most other muscle cars into the weeds, too.
