Brodie Kostecki signs with Dick Johnson Racing
The Supercars silly season has ratcheted up, with Anton De Pasquale’s departure from Dick Johnson Racing (Shell V-Power Racing Team) for Team 18 followed shortly after by confirmation that Brodie Kostecki will replace him.
Kostecki, the reigning Supercars Champion, leaves Erebus Motorsport to join incumbent Will Davison at Ford’s homologation team for 2025.
The move to DJR will end a fractious relationship between Kostecki and Erebus Motorsport that saw him sit out the opening two rounds of this year’s Supercars season, only to rejoin the team for Round 3 at Taupo. Despite this interrupted start, Kostecki has performed well, securing a third place in Race 2 at Round 4 (Hidden Valley), along with Top Ten finishes at Round 7 (Sydney Motorsport Park) and Round 8 (Symmons Plains).
“I am excited to join the Shell V-Power Racing Team, a team with such a rich history of success,” Kostecki said. “This partnership represents a new chapter for me, and I look forward to working alongside Will and the entire team.”
In welcoming Kostecki to DJR, team founder Dick Johnson described the 26-year-old from Perth as one of the top drivers in the series.
“We’re excited to bring [Brodie] on board the Shell V-Power Racing Team,” Johnson said. “He’s an impressive young man and I’ve certainly got a soft spot for anyone who has as much mechanical sympathy and understanding of the car as he does.
“With the combination of Will and Brodie, we look forward to chasing wins and returning to the top next season!”
Signing with DJR means Kostecki will be behind the wheel of a Ford Mustang for the first time in his Supercars career, as his five years in the series to date have been in either Holden Commodores or Chevrolet Camaros.
DJR hopes that adding Kostecki to their roster will deliver the team their first Supercars Drivers’ Championship since Scott McLaughlin in 2020. The best-place for a DJR driver since then has been fourth, achieved by Davison in 2021 and De Pasquale in 2022.
Kostecki’s replacement at Erebus Motorsport will be young Super2 driver, Cooper Murray.
