BURNS & CO’S OCTOBER AUCTION TO DELIVER THREE BIG NIGHTS - JUST CARS

The next Burns & Co. ‘Muscle, Classics & Motoring Auction’ brings together three nights of action, running from Monday, 5 October, through to Wednesday, 7 October, 2026.

Across three consecutive nights, bidders will find everything from highly desirable Monaros and Toranas to modern Holden and FPV performance, classic American V8s, European prestige and sports cars, classic motorcycles, utilities, recreational vehicles, affordable enthusiast cars and motoring collectables.

Night 1 puts Australian muscle firmly in the spotlight, with a particularly strong Holden contingent assembled. Night 2 changes gears with American V8s, European classics, sports cars and motorcycles. Night 3 rounds out the series with a more accessible mix of classics, SUVs, commercial vehicles and recreational motoring.

Holden Muscle leads Night 1

There is no shortage of Australian muscle for Night 1 of the October auction, with one of the standout vehicles being a 1968 Holden HK Monaro GTS 327 Type 2 V8 manual. The HK GTS 327 sits among the most significant early Holden muscle cars and gives the October catalogue a serious headline act from the outset.

Other Monaro attractions include a 1968 Holden HK GTS 186S Powerglide auto and 1970 HT 350 GTS Bathurst Edition 2, adding to an already impressive Monaro line-up. There’s also a 1969 Holden HT GTS 308 V8 manual, comprehensively restored in Spanish Red with Antique Gold trim, together with a 1974 HQ GTS 308 V8 manual sedan finished in factory Covert Metallic with black trim.

Torana enthusiasts are also well catered for, led by a genuine 1970 LC GTR XU-1 six-cylinder manual. Also offered on Night 1 is a 1970 LC GTR manual coupe, giving bidders two opportunities from one of Holden's most recognised performance-car families. Another standout is a genuine 1977 Torana LX SS hatch, factory-equipped with a 308 V8 and four-speed manual - another highly sought-after Holden performance model on Night 1.

Beyond the muscle, Holden depth in the October auction stretches to include a 1963 EH Special sedan, 1969 HK Kingswood sedan and 1975 HJ Kingswood wagon, 1976 HX Statesman DeVille 308, 1974 HJ Statesman Caprice 308 and two 1973 HQ Premiers - 253 V8 manual and 202 six auto.

There’s also a 1966 HD Special sedan, 1976 TX Gemini coupe with HDT ‘Blue Meanie’ tribute paint and decals, and a 1959 FC Special set to cross the block.

Adding something very different to the Holden offering is a 1985 VK (ex-Vic Police Interceptor) 4.9-litre V8 manual and a 1991 VN Commodore BT1, while a 1985 VK ‘Blue Meanie’ tribute V8 manual sedan provides another take on the increasingly collectable VK generation.

Modern Holden and FPV Performance

The October catalogue isn't confined to early Australian muscle.

A 2017 Holden VF Motorsport Edition (Build #0577) LS3 V8 represents the final generation of locally produced Holden performance cars, while a 2009 E Series R8 Clubsport LS3 V8 adds HSV muscle to the mix. They're joined by a 2013 VF Commodore SSV Redline wagon, 2001 VX SS Commodore Series II LS1 V8 sedan, 1997 VS Commodore GTS-R tribute and a rare 1989 HSV VN SV LE V8 wagon (Build #067).

Ford enthusiasts aren't forgotten, with a 1976 XC Falcon Cobra - one of the Blue Oval's most recognisable limited-edition models – to be auctioned on Night 1. This genuine, unrestored survivor is Cobra #049, with the 351 V8 and 4spd manual, factory air con and power windows.

Just as desirable is a 1975 XB Falcon John Goss Special and immaculately restored 1967 XR Fairmont 289 V8 automatic sedan. A 2008 FPV GT sedan (Build #0443) brings the Ford performance story forward several decades, while a 1999 XH Falcon Longreach utility adds another slice of Australian Ford history, with this example presenting well in Regency Red with Mako Grey cloth trim.

Australian performance is also represented on Night 2 by a 2003 FPV BA GT-P sedan with the Boss 290 (5.4-litre) V8 and four-speed auto

American Muscle and European Classics Headline Night 2

Night 2 changes the flavour, bringing together American V8 muscle, British and European prestige, classic sports cars and some wonderfully different machinery.

Leading the American contingent is a 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T 440 WS23L 2-door hardtop, bringing Big Block Mopar presence to the October catalogue. There’s also a C1980 Chevrolet C3 Corvette Stingray coupe with the L82 350 V8, finished in bright yellow with black trim and power windows.

At the other end of the American spectrum is a 1974 Cadillac Eldorado 8.2-litre V8 convertible, along with a 1980 Lincoln Continental Town Car 5.8-litre V8, 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air sedan and a rare 1970 Ford F250 Dual Cab V8 auto pickup.

A standout amongst the American offerings is a 1947 Chevrolet Fleetmaster woody wagon. Restored in the US before coming here in 2013, this genuine woody features an inline six and manual transmission (most likely 3.5lt and three-speed), three-row seating, period radio and dashboard clock, plus a pair of folding chairs for use at car shows that are trimmed to match the paint and timber.

European and British car enthusiasts also have plenty to choose from on Night 2. A 1980 Bentley T2 V8 auto sedan brings traditional British prestige, while a 1969 Jaguar 420G, 1949 Rover P3 75 four-light sports saloon and 1958 Morris Minor 1000 four-door sedan cover very different chapters of British motoring history.

For open-top motoring, Night 2 has an especially interesting selection, with four very different interpretations of the classic sporty convertible formula.

A C1965 Austin-Healey 3000 MkIII BJ8 joins a 1975 Mercedes-Benz 280SL, 1976 MGB and a 2002 Bullet V8 SS. Designed and built in Australia, the Bullet combined a Mazda MX-5 body with a supercharged Lexus 4.0-litre V8. This particular Bullet was the first to be ADR complied and had recently featured in JUST CARS. Night 3 offers a 1998 BMW Z3 convertible with the 2.8-litre six and auto that would make a great weekend or club car.

Further European entries on Night 3 include a 1990 Mercedes-Benz W126 420 SEL V8, 2001 Mercedes-Benz CLK430 Elegance coupe, and a 1990 BMW 735iL sedan.

Motorcycles and Motoring Collectables Join the Action

Two-wheel enthusiasts haven't been forgotten in the October auction, with Night 2 offerings including a 1972 Bultaco Matador 250 scrambler, 1971 Norton Commando 750 Fastback, 1981 Yamaha XV750 Virago, 2005 Yamaha XVS1100A and a C1969 Honda Mini Trail 50cc. There’s also a 1942 Harley-Davidson WLA and a C1975 Yamaha RD 100, both in outstanding condition, with the Yamaha having only one owner from new.

Motoring collectables also feature across Night 1 and 2, with Bathurst and Australian touring-car memorabilia, Peter Brock pieces, number plates and other automotive collectables up for bidding.

Night 3 Brings Something for Everyone

While the premium collector cars will naturally command plenty of attention across Nights 1 and 2, the final night opens the door to a broader range of motoring.

European classics include a 2003 Mercedes-Benz SLK320 Limited Edition, plus a 2011 Fiat 500 manual that provide a more modern and accessible entry point.

For something considerably bigger, there's a 1970 Chevrolet C60 truck, joined by a 1987 Chevrolet Suburban 454 V8 SUV, 1988 Chevrolet 3500HD Silverado dual cab pickup, 1983 Toyota HJ47 Land Cruiser, two Jeep Grand Cherokees and a Land Rover Series I. Finally, a 1989 Isuzu Rodeo camper/motorhome and 2011 Scenic Caravan add a recreational dimension to the final night's catalogue.
