Calling all Aussie-built cars for Lakeside Father's Day event
Following the success of past US-themed 'All American Lakeside' and 'Thanksgiving at Lakeside' car displays, Queensland Raceways and the Aussie Car Clubs of Queensland have joined forces to stage a grand exhibition of Australia's finest automotive hardware.
Event organisers are encouraging some of the more unusual Aussie production models to join in the fun alongside the classic Holdens, Fords and Valiants. The call has gone out Aussie-built Mitsubishi Sigmas, Leyland P76s, Austin Freeways, Wolseley 24/80s, RB30 Skylines, VWs and Volvos to be dusted off and put on display.
Queensland Raceways CEO John Tetley said he'd love to see small-batch Aussie vehicles at the Fathers' Day celebration.
"Australia has manufactured an amazing range of cars over the years," Tetley enthused. "It would be wonderful if we had vehicles from the likes of Ascort, Bolwell, Buchanan, Bufori or Goggomobil there to mix with the well-known brands."
Open to all cars manufactured down under, All Australian Lakeside will consist of a massive show and shine display, open cruise sessions and club cruise sessions on the legendary Lakeside circuit, as well as a multi-event track session known as the 'Lakeside Challenge'. Consisting of a 1/8 mile drag on the main straight and an optional 200m slalom between Hungry Corner and the Bridge, the Lakeside Challenge is designed as a fun, equipment-friendly event for social car fans, rather than fierce track competitors.
Set on the banks of Lake Kurwongbah, All Australian Lakeside promises a stunning display of Australian automotive machinery. For car-crazy dads, there will be no better way to spend Fathers' Day!
