Calling all Cruisers in WA
This boutique event gives classic, muscle, sports car and modified vehicle owners the chance to take their prized possessions on a casual cruise across the tarmac, with great scenery, good company and heaps of entertainment - all in the name of charity.
The Cruise is the brainchild of self confessed motoring devotee and long time Variety WA supporter, Anthony Begley, who saw the need for a 'black top' event that kept to the roads and wouldn't damage the cars, while still incorporating the impromptu fun stops and unexpected entertainment Variety is renowned for.
"Last year's L plates are off and the P plates are well and truly on for our second year behind the wheel, with more fun and laughs planned for the Cruise's convoy," Begley enthused.
"Classic car enthusiasts love having a reason to get their cars on the road, and what better reason than for a charity such as Variety WA?"
Variety WA Chief Executive Officer, Michael Pailthorpe, said he was delighted at the reception the Creative Car Cruise has had so far.
"The overwhelming response we got from participants in the inaugural year was amazing. Our thanks go to Anthony and Jayne Begley for their vision in creating this event, and to all our participants for waving the Variety flag and taking up the fundraising challenge the way they have."
To take part in the CCC for 2012, participants are required to raise a minimum $4,000 donation, with funds raised going towards the 'livALIVE' program to help disadvantaged children in conjunction with PCYC. Last year's event raised funds for the installation of a wheelchair accessible Liberty Swing at Carson St Education Support School. Worth $40,000, the Liberty Swing allows children with physical disabilities to experience the simple joy of 'having a swing' - a pleasure many of us take for granted.
