Chevrolet E-10 Concept pickup SEMA STUNNER 2019
Based on a 1962 Chevrolet C-10 pickup, the ‘E-10’ (‘E’ for ‘Electric’) is powered by a ‘Connect & Cruise’ concept electric propulsion package that may be offered as a crate engine in the future.
Two ‘eCrate’ electric crate motors are matched to a pair of 400-volt batteries and the electronics from Chevy’s existing Bolt EV. The eCrate motors are stacked under the bonnet to resemble a V8 powertrain and drive the rear axle through a conventional 4L75-E auto transmission.
As fitted to the E-10, this electric powertrain delivers a claimed 450hp (335kW), 0-100km/h times of around 5.0 seconds and quarter mile times in the 13-second range.
A more whimsical addition was the set of speakers designed to project conventional engine intake noise at the front and exhaust sounds at the rear.
“The E-10 Concept builds on the experience and momentum generated by last year’s eCOPO Concept, taking the idea of a ‘crate’ electric propulsion system further by leveraging actual production components,” said Russ O’Blenes, Chevrolet’s director of Performance Variants, Parts & Motorsports. “It’s still in the testing stage, but this concept brings the electric option for hot rodders much closer to reality.”
