Chevrolet previews 70th Anniversary Corvette
The Corvette reaches a major milestone in 2023 when the all-American sports car turns 70. To mark the occasion, Chevrolet will release a special ‘70th Anniversary Edition’ package with exclusive colours, badging and details.
“Passion for Corvette runs deep at Chevrolet and this anniversary is extra special because of the excitement and sales success we’ve achieved with the eighth generation of America’s iconic sports car,” said Steve Majoros, vice president, Chevrolet marketing.
To be offered on both the Stingray and Z06 variants and coupe and convertible bodies, the 70th Anniversary Edition will be available in a choice of all-new White Pearl Metallic Tri-coat or Carbon Flash Metallic, both of which will only be available on the anniversary models.
Body stripes in complementing colours – Satin Gray for the White Pearl Metallic Tri-coat and Satin Black on the Carbon Flash Metallic – are optional.
Unique colours aside, other details on the 70th Anniversary Edition Corvettes include wheels (different designs for the Stingray and Z06) with a dark finish, red outer trim and commemorative centre caps. Brake calipers are finished in Edge Red, with the same colour applied to the engine cover on Stingrays.
Special badging includes “70” identification on the Corvette’s signature ‘crossed flag’ emblem, with 70th Anniversary Edition logos on the seats, steering wheel and door sills, too.
Red contrast stitching features throughout the interior and red seatbelts are standard, while seat options include GT2 or Competition Sport styles in two-tone leather with sueded microfibre inserts.
A rear bumper protector and boot cover will be standard and each unit will also come with a custom luggage set carrying the 70th Anniversary Edition logo.
While the 70th Anniversary Edition gets the extra kit and exclusive colours, all other MY23 Corvettes will feature a commemorative interior plaque and graphic etched into the rear window.
Production of the 70th Anniversary Edition Corvette Stingray and Z06 is due to commence later this year, with the first retail Z06 already auctioned off by Barrett-Jackson, raising US$3.6 million (AU$5 million approx.) for US charity Operation Homefront.
Whether the 70th Anniversary Edition Corvette will be offered in Australia is unknown at time of writing.
