Davison, De Pasquale re-sign with DJR for 2023
The Shell V-Power Racing Team, aka Dick Johnson Racing (DJR), has renewed the contracts of Will Davison and Anton De Pasquale for the 2023 Supercars season, extending both driver’s tenure with the Queensland-based team to three years.
Both Davison and De Pasquale joined Shell V-Power Racing in 2021, replacing Scott McLaughlin and Fabian Coulthard. At time of writing, the pair have achieved a combined nine wins and 34 podiums in almost two years with the team.
After nine rounds of this year’s Repco Supercars Championship, Davison has won two races and finished on the podium a further ten times, with eight pole position starts, too.
Over the same period, De Pasquale has one race win, nine other podiums and three pole starts.
Davison’s two wins means he’s already exceeded his performance from 2021, while De Pasquale is arguably behind where he was this time last year (four wins after nine rounds), but remains in championship contention
“I’m very excited to continue driving for the Shell V-Power Racing Team,” Davison said. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to race in the iconic Shell V-Power colours, the legendary No. 17 and for such an iconic race team in DJR. I can’t wait to build on the excellent results we’ve had to date and continue fighting for race wins.”
De Pasquale is similarly excited to remain with Shell V-Power Racing: “The family culture that Dick and Ryan have created at the team is like no other.
“It is a great team to work with and for and to have continuity and stability with the team going into next year is excellent, and to have a great teammate in Will. We both want to get more wins and continue to be up the front for the team, our partners, and the fans.”
DJR’s Executive Chairman Ryan Story said that re-signing both Davison and De Pasquale highlights the stability and continuity that Shell V-Power Racing has on and off the track.
“Both drivers have been invaluable additions to our team, and they have been the perfect fit with not only all our staff, but also with our partners, and are loved by all our loyal and passionate supporters. Their on-track results have proved that, and they are a fantastic pairing for our team.”
After nine rounds, Davison and De Pasquale are third and fourth in the championship, close to second-placed Cameron Waters of Tickford Monster Energy Racing, but more than 500 points adrift of series leader, Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen.
Last year, Davison and De Pasquale finished fourth and sixth in the championship.
