Ferrari to be celebrated at Motorclassica
Motorclassica is back in 2022 after two years away and chief amongst the themes for the event’s return is a celebration of Ferrari in the marque’s 75th Anniversary year.
This year also marks the 50th birthday of the Ferrari Club Australia, so that milestone will be celebrated, too, making Motorclassica the place to be this coming 7 – 9 October if you’re a fan of the Prancing Horse.
Rare and desirable Ferraris from the last seven decades, worth millions of dollars, will feature in multiple activities, including a special parade from Ikon Park in Carlton to the Royal Exhibition Building on Saturday, 8 October (departing 9:30AM, arriving 9:45AM approx.). There will also be a showcase in the event’s forecourt area and a dedicated display in the exhibition’s Concours section.
“Ferrari evokes the passion of enthusiasts like no other, so it is with great pride that Motorclassica is to host a significant local celebration of the brand’s 75th anniversary which coincides with the Ferrari Club Australia’s 50th anniversary,” said Jon Trehern, Motorclassica Event Director.
“Enzo Ferrari truly created an icon of the motorised world, with his company not only succeeding on the racetrack, but also in the hearts of devotees with a remarkable line-up of road-going models.
“Partnering with the Ferrari Club Australia, the Saturday of Motorclassica will transform into the biggest of the four sanctioned activities set to take place this year in Australia.
“The parade will feature 75 Ferraris covering the whole gamut of models from the brand’s remarkable journey, and it will be a sight to see.”
Ferraris expected to take part in the parade include a Dino 246GT and 365 GTs from the 1970s, a Testarossa and 328 from the 1980s, an F360, 612, 599, F430, 458, California and Portofino, along with Ferrari’s most recent offerings, like an 812, Roma and F8 Tributo.
For the Concours, the special class celebrating Ferrari will offer just as many highlights, including a 1960 250 GT Pininfarina (one of only nine in RHD), the 1994 512TR pictured, 1977 Dino 308 GT4 Coupe 2+2 and 2001 550 Barchetta Pininfarina.
“Beyond Ferrari, Motorclassica has been reimagined for 2022, and covers the whole motoring spectrum, with the team behind the event working tirelessly to ensure a festival of all things automotive,” Trehem added.
While many changes and new attractions will feature at this year’s Motorclassica, what hasn’t changed is the location – the Royal Exhibition Building in Carlton - which has hosted the event since the beginning.
Motorclassica 2022 runs from Friday, 7 October to Sunday, 9 October.
