Hot Wheels Camaro at SEMA
While SEMA has seen Chev reveal Hot Wheels concepts in the past, the 2012 SEMA show marks the first time a production version, officially licensed by the toy car manufacturer, has been presented.
The Camaro 'Hot Wheels® Edition' will be produced in the first quarter of 2013, with an appearance that echoes the cues that Hot Wheels enthusiasts recognize, like the metallic paint, wheels, metallic paint and redline tyres.
The Hot Wheels edition will be available - in the US - as a coupe or convertible, in 2LT (V-6) and 2SS (V-8) trims, blending exterior cues of the high-performance Camaro ZL1 with a Kinetic Blue exterior colour and unique graphics.
Exterior highlights on the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition include:
_ ZL1 rear spoiler (coupe models)
_ ZL1 front upper grille
_ Ground effects package, including front splitter and rocker treatment
_ Black 21-inch wheels with red outline stripe
_ Two-tone matte hood graphic and rear taillight panel "blackout" graphic
_ Fender "flame" graphics
_ Hot Wheels grille and decklid logos.
On the inside, a black leather-trimmed interior is accented with red and black seat stitching, with the Hot Wheels logo embroidered on the front seats. The instrument panel and door inserts are black, with the Hot Wheels-style flame decal on each door. Hot Wheels® Edition sill plates also distinguish the car, along with Camaro-logo premium floor mats with red edging.
Additional to the production 2013 Hot Wheels Camaro at SEMA was a stylised version of the original Camaro from 1967 (which was also one of the first Hot Wheels toy cars released in 1968) with all-modern, emissions-compliant running gear.
Other stunners on show from Chevrolet include the Camaro ZL1, Camaro SS with track-ready 1LE package and the Corvette 427 Convertible Collector Edition which celebrates 50 years of the iconic 'Vette. One-off versions of Chevy's Camaro and Corvette for NASCAR star Tony Stewart and US celebrity chef Guy Fieri were also on display. Watch this space for more on these cars.
