Jaguar to offer 4-cylinder F-Type
In this instance, the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine will produce a claimed 221kW and 400Nm, resulting a claimed 0-100km/h time of 5.7 seconds and a top speed just shy of 250km/h.
Driving the rear wheels, this engine will only be offered with the ‘Quickshift’ 8-speed automatic, with no manual transmission option available.
Obviously, the smaller engine is also lighter, with Jaguar claiming a 52kg weight reduction compared to the previously lightest V6 model. Chassis tuning has been recalibrated to suit the reduced weight, which Jaguar says results in more agile handling, steering response and ride comfort.
To be offered in base and R-Dynamic forms, the four-cylinder F-Type will be part of a 2018 model lineup that has been given some styling tweaks, with redesigned bumpers and full LED lighting on the list of changes, while the four-cylinder model is defined by a single exhaust outlet, instead of the V6’s dual pipes and V8’s quad-outlet arrangement.
The four-cylinder F-Type also gets its own 18-inch lightweight alloy wheels, which contribute further to this model’s overall weight reduction.
Full pricing has yet to be revealed ahead of the MY18 range’s Q4 2017 arrival, but the four-cylinder models will start from $107,300, excluding on-road costs. This is just over $12,000 cheaper than the previous entry-level model V6 coupe.
