Last three 'saleable' Falcons to be auctioned
The three Falcons, an XR6 sedan, XR6 Turbo ute and XR6 Sprint sedan, will be joined by a Territory for the Ford Final 4, which are being claimed as the last saleable, ie. fully compliance plated and registerable, vehicles produced at Broadmeadows before the factory ceased production today, 7 October, 2016.
The absolute last vehicles down the line, an XR6 Falcon sedan and Territory, does not carry the Government authority number of their compliance plates and thus cannot be offered for sale.
Along with the last Falcon ute produced on 29 July, the last Falcon sedan and last Territory built at Broadmeadows will go into Ford's Heritage Collection and only be offered for special event and museum displays.
The final three saleable Falcons on offer as part of the Manheim auction are as follows:
XR6 sedan
195kW/391Nm 4.0-litre inline 6-cylinder engine
6-speed automatic transmission
Sports suspension
18-inch alloys
Kinetic Blue paint
XR6 Turbo ute*
270kW/533Nm turbocharged 4.0-litre inline 6-cylinder engine
6-speed manual transmission
Sports suspension
Performance brakes
19-inch alloys
Smoke paint
*unlike the other Falcons and Territory, the ute is described, as "used", so it not fresh off the line and was presumably utilised briefly as a demonstrator or press fleet vehicle.
XR6 Sprint
#500 of 500 built
325kW/576Nm turbocharged 4.0-litre 6-cylinder engine
Sprint-calibrated 6-speed automatic transmission
Brembo brakes (6-piston front, 4-piston rear)
Carbon fibre air intake and satin black engine cover
Sprint suspension
Partial leather interior trim
Winter White paint
Bidder registrations for the auction are now open, with all proceeds (minus taxes) from the sale of the Territory (a RWD Titanium turbo diesel) and two of the three Falcons going to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) initiatives and Student Robotics Programs at schools in Broadmeadows and Geelong.
Proceeds from the sale of the final, #500 XR6 Sprint (minus taxes) will go to the 'Give Where You Live Foundation' charity in Geelong.
"We have spent more than three years helping our manufacturing employees find new futures in Broadmeadows and Geelong," said Graeme Whickman, President and CEO, Ford of Australia.
"As the leading local automotive R&D investor and employer going forward, we also want to support the country's quest to spur more innovation and tap into our unique talent base."
Ford says the auction will help them carry on the legacies of its manufacturing team and Falcon as the company builds on the largest automotive R&D presence in Australia.
Ford will soon become Australia's leading automotive employer with more than 2,000 team members, including 1,100 designers and engineers.
The opportunity to get hold of the last saleable Falcons produced in Australia, as well as the penultimate example of Australia's only homegrown SUV, should see all four vehicles, especially the XR6 Sprint, sell for significantly more than their regular retail prices at the auction.
