Longford Revival Festival to follow F1
The original timing of next year's Longford Revival Festival has been brought forward so that the event aligns better with the staging of the Melbourne Formula 1 Grand Prix from March 15 to March 18.
The 2012 Longford Revival Festival will be the second running of the event and follows an outstanding debut in April this year that received accolades from participants and spectators.
Event Director, Mark Perry from Octagon Australia, says the new dates will bring significant benefits to the Festival.
"Having the Festival just six days after the F1 race in Melbourne means we will be able to attract some of the people and the machines that will be in the country for the Grand Prix to also attend the Longford Revival Festival," Perry said.
"The original date for 2012 was two weeks after Melbourne, but it was proving to be very difficult to keep specific people and a number of well-known cars in the country for that long before they came down here.
"We were rapt with the way the inaugural Longford Revival Festival went, but it was just the start and we want to make the event bigger and better in 2012 and beyond.
"The feedback regarding the new timing that we've had from a large number of the international owners and drivers is very positive.
"They are very keen to support our event. This year we had the Porsche Museum collection at Longford and it was a wonderful.
"So for 2012 we are looking to attract a whole lot of internationally significant cars to Tasmania, as well as some unique Australian car collections.
"Once again the Flying Mile will be a highlight. The site on Pateena Road will be upgraded for 2012, meaning spectator viewing will be enhanced.
"Plus we have an exciting range of music lined up. It's a Festival with a family fun theme that celebrates all that was good about the fifties and sixties.
"We'll have wine from the Tamar Valley, fine gourmet food, live 60s music, plus the greatest automotive collection ever put together in this state, and memories from the golden days of one of Tasmania's oldest, and most famous towns."
