Lotus announce Exige Sport 410 ‘Targa Edition’
Announced by Lotus Cars Australia in April following the forced cancellation of this year’s Targa Tasmania due to the coronavirus, the ‘Exige Sport 410 Targa Limited Edition’ is exclusive to the Australian market and will be limited to just 10 units.
“The catalyst for this car was the success the Exige has enjoyed in Targa competition,” said Lotus Cars Australia CEO, Lee Knappett. “Having won the Australian Targa Championship back to back in 2018 and 2019, it seemed fitting to pay tribute with a Limited Edition car.
“2019 was an extremely successful year, with Lotus owners winning the Targa championship in all four classes that our cars were eligible - TSD, GT Sports, GT2 and Outright.”
Defined against the regular Exige Sport 410 by a handful of detail changes, the Targa Limited Edition features Cup-style side air intakes and rear wing, both of which are finished in carbon fibre, and an identifying ‘Targa Limited Edition’ decal on the front guards.
The Targa Limited Edition is available in any metallic colour in the Lotus range.
Inside, carbon fibre sports seats, a harness bar, four-point harnesses and fitted fire extinguisher are standard, making the Targa Limited Edition ready for safe participation in sprints, track days and tarmac rallies.
For more serious competition use, purchasers can option their car with an Australian Motorsport-compliant rollcage. An interior colour pack is also optional.
Each of the 10-unit limited edition will also feature a numbered build plaque in the cabin.
Mechanically, the Targa Limited Edition is unaltered from a standard Exige Sport 410, meaning a mid-mounted 3.5-litre supercharged V6 engine delivering 305kW and 420Nm. The 6-speed manual gearbox features sports ratios, while four selectable driving modes alter the level of traction control and stability programme intervention.
Suspension is made up of three-way adjustable Nitron shocks, Eibach springs and three-way adjustable anti-roll bars at each end. AP Racing brakes, lightweight forged alloy wheels and Michelin Sport Cup 2 tyres are all standard.
At $174,990 RRP, the Targa Limited Edition is a $5,000 premium over a regular Exige Sport 410, but Lotus Cas Australia says the options fitted would total $12,500 if purchased separately.
