Lowndes Special Edition Commodore numbers increase
Only 161 units of the VF Commodore-based Special Edition were planned, the quantity reflecting the number of laps of the annual Bathurst 1000 enduro, but Holden will now build 233 examples, enough to allow one or every Holden dealer in the country.
Even with this increase, Holden dealers are reporting more than 50 per cent of the total has already been sold, with the first units expected to be delivered by the end of this month.
Starting at $57,990 for the manual, and $60,190 for the auto (now with paddle shifters), each Craig Lowndes SS V Special Edition Commodore is based on the SS V Redline edition and is 'hand-finished' at the Holden Enhancement Centre at the company's Elizabeth plant.
Available in Red Hot or Heron White, the Special Edition features unique body side decals, bonnet decal and chrome finished boot badge, black grille and front guard vents, a black roof and black window surrounds. Interior enhancements include an embroidered 'Craig Lowndes' signature on the dash pad.
New 20-inch alloy wheels in black, and 4-piston Brembo brake calipers front and rear, are other features, but there are no engine enhancements or performance upgrades over the standard SS V Redline Commodore.
Each Craig Lowndes Special Edition will come with a framed certificate of authenticity with build plate, with buyers also treated to a Red Bull Racing private function and tour hosted by Craig Lowndes, as well as two General Admission tickets to their nearest V8 Supercar race in 2015, which includes a Red Bull Racing pit tour.
