Maserati launch ‘MC Edition’ models
Maserati have announced a new series of the Ghibli and Quattroporte, inspired by their racing history – the MC Edition.
Standing for ‘Maserati Corse’ (Maserati Racing), the MC Editions are based on the Trofeo-spec Ghibli and Quattroporte cars powered by a V8 petrol engine, which means a 3.8-litre twin-turbo producing 433kW and 730Nm in both models, matched to an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Also available on V8-powered versions of the Levante SUV, the V8-only approach for the MC Edition is to highlight the concept of uncompromising driving pleasure, according to Maserati.
The MC Edition is a cosmetic package, defined by a choice of two exclusive colours - Giallo Corse and Blu Vittoria (Racing Yellow and Victory Blue) - which are also the colours of the city of Modena. Referred to as Italy’s ‘Motor Valley’, Modena is not only Maserati’s birthplace but also the home of Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani and Ducati.
Giallo Corse is a three-layer yellow with a blue mica pearlescent finish, while Blu Vittoria is a matte three-layer blue that’s said to have a tangible effect.
On both colours, Piano Black detailing is added to complement the exterior, with the 21-inch rims on the Ghibli and Quattroporte (22-inch on the Levante) getting a gloss black finish, with blue brake calipers part of the package, too.
Unique MC Edition badging on the front guards and at the rear complete the exterior touches.
Inside, each MC Edition adds blue carbon fibre detailing, while the Nero Pienofiore black leather seats feature denim accents, along with yellow and blue stitching. The front seat headrests feature MC Edition branding and the Maserati trident logo, while a dedicated badge is added to the centre of the console.
All MC Edition models will also come with an electric sunroof, Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system and Driver Assistance package as standard.
According to Maserati, the MC Edition’s styling touches create a perfect racing style and celebrate the power rooted in the beating heart of racing and the DNA typical of the Motor Valley.
Local release of the Maserati MC Edition models is expected in Q2, 2022. Pricing has yet to be announced, but with the Ghibli V8 Trofeo at around $300,000 and the larger Quattroporte V8 Trofeo approximately $425,000 drive away, the MC Edition will almost certainly add premiums in each instance.
