McLaren builds new ‘Stealth’ 720S
Built to commission from McLaren London and inspired by one of four themes the 720S was presented in at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, the one-off does anything but blend in, with Sarthe Grey paint (from the MSO Defined range) highlighted with Vermillion Red coachlines.
Sarthe Grey is said to be inspired by the McLaren F1 GTR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, with the painting process, including the hand-painted red details, taking almost 200 hours. The red highlights carry through to the 10-spoke Super Lightweight wheels, which add Vermillion Red highlights to the Satin Black finish.

MSO Bespoke exterior parts include a swag of carbon fibre visual components; from rear aero bridges, rear guard air intakes and rear deck lid to front air intakes and the external mirror arms and casings.
Inside, the “sports oriented” cockpit is to 720S Performance spec and carries more carbon fibre in the form of surrounds for the instrument screen, steering wheel and centre console switchgear. The rest of the interior is swathed in grey Alcantara, with MSO Bespoke treatments including red leather highlights on the screen and centre console, red and black leather highlights on the seats and red contrast stitching throughout the cabin.

While the 720S can be had with a choice of three specification levels, with MSO Defined options allowing further individualisation, the 720S Stealth shows what MSO Bespoke can do. Interestingly, the four themes presented by MSO Bespoke for the 2017 Geneva show - ‘Stealth’, ‘Velocity’, ‘Track’ and ‘Pacific’ - have all since been reproduced to individual customer order or by request from McLaren dealerships, like this example.
In Australia, the McLaren 720S is priced from $489,900 in standard spec and $515,080 for the ‘Luxury’ and ‘Performance’ variants (pricing excludes ORCs), with MSO Defined and MSO Bespoke additions increasing pricing further depending on the level of personalisation requested.
