MINI JCW Paceman coming to Australia
MINI Australia General Manager, Kai Bruesewitz said the JCW model is the quintessential Paceman.
"The JCW Paceman is what they had in mind when the designed this model, a muscular go fast looking car with the high performance and incredible dynamics and drive enjoyment only found in a MINI," he said.
The MINI John Cooper Works Paceman draws its power from a 1,598 cc four-cylinder engine, ably assisted by a John Cooper Works turbocharger. Engine highlights include reinforced pistons, low-weight crankshafts, an aluminium cylinder block and bearing mounts, and further optimisation of the cooling system, air supply and exhaust gas discharge system.
Additionally, the turbocharger is twinned with a generously-sized intercooler. The twin turbocharger joins with the 1.6 litre's petrol direct injection and variable valve control based on BMW Group's VALVETRONIC technology, which optimises both the engine's efficiency and its responsiveness.
The powerplant develops its maximum output of 160kW at 6000 rpm. Peak torque of 280Nm is on tap between 1900 and 5000 rpm and can be increased to 300Nm for short periods between 2100 and 4500 rpm using the overboost function opening the door to thrilling acceleration to which the standard fitted exhaust system provides a suitable stirring sound track.
Power is channelled via the electromagnetic centre differential of the standard MINI 'ALL4' all-wheel-drive system seamlessly to all 4 wheels. In normal driving situations, ALL4 diverts a maximum 50 per cent of the engine's power to the rear wheels, rising to as much as 100 per cent in extreme conditions.
Standard transmission is a six-speed manual, but a six-speed automatic gearbox can be ordered as an option. MINI say the choice of gearbox has no effect on the sprinting power of the JCW models, with 0 to 100 km/h times of 6.9 seconds. Performance has been married with impressive economy, consuming just 8.0lt of fuel per 100 km's and emitting 186 grams of CO2 per kilometre. These figures increase slightly when optioned with the Auto, to 8.3 l/100 km's and of 193 grams of CO2 per km.
Chassis technology on the MINI JCW Paceman has been optimised specially for this new model. The Sports suspension which has dynamically-tuned dampers, anti-roll bars and an extremely high-performance braking system, which are all key players in delivering driving fun.
Additionally, the standard 'sport' button in the centre console allows the driver to tweak the engines responses and soundtrack, as well as the power assistance provided by the steering. If the Automatic transmission is fitted, pressing the Sport button also quickens up shift times.
Standard specification includes the JCW Aero Kit, Anthracite roof lining, JCW sport leather steering wheel, Handbrake and gearshift gaiters with red stitching, Floor mats with red contrasting seams, JCW door sill finishers, Anthracite instrument dials, interior and cockpit surfaces in Piano black, Sports exhaust system and 18" Twin-Spoke light-alloy wheels in Burnished Black with run-flat safety tyres.
Addtionally the MINI JCW Paceman is equipped standard with the Chilli Package which includes Cloth/leather combination upholstery, Automatic climate control, Interior rear view mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function, harman/kardon HiFi System and Bi-xenon headlights with headlight washer system.
The 160kW MINI JCW Paceman will be available locally from May.
