MINI John Cooper Works range now complete
Engine and Drivetrain
The latest JCW models are powered by a new generation 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine featuring twin-scroll turbo technology, direct fuel injection, variable valve control and a host of technical features derived from motor racing. JCW engines also include reinforced cylinder head and pistons, sodium filled exhaust valves, a lightweight crankshaft and JCW sports exhaust.
Maximum output of 155 kW and 260 Nm of torque (280 Nm with overboost) in the 2WD models increases to 160 kW and 280 Nm (300 Nm with overboost) in the 'ALL4' all-wheel-drive MINI JCW Countryman and MINI JCW Paceman.
In 2WD variants, drive is via a standard six-speed manual. In the JCW Paceman and Countryman, power is channelled via an electromagnetic centre diff of the standard ALL4 all-wheel-drive system between the front and rear axles to all four wheels. An optional six-speed automatic is available for all JCW variants, except the JCW GP limited edition model.
Sports mode
A 'Sports' button in the centre console allows the driver to tweak engine response and soundtrack, as well as steering assistance. In automatic JCWs, the Sport button also quickens shift times.
Sports suspension, which comes as either standard or a no-cost-option depending on the model, has dynamically tuned dampers and anti-roll bars. All JCW models also feature high-performance sports-brakes as standard.
Exterior
Externally, all MINI JCW models are instantly recognisable, thanks to unique exterior details, include an aero kit, bespoke trim and 'John Cooper Works' badging. Depending on the model, up to ten exterior colours are available. A contrasting paint finish can be ordered for the roof and exterior mirror caps in Chilli Red, a colour exclusive to the John Cooper Works models. Sport stripes are also available in the same colour as a no-cost-option.
The JCW Aero kit includes a front apron with integral air ducts for brake cooling, side sills and rear bumper.
Two-wheel drive variants receive 17 inch Cross Spoke Challenge wheels, while the four-wheel drive MINI JCW Paceman and Countryman roll on 18 inch twin-spoke burnished alloys.
Interior
MINI JCW interiors are distinguished by sport seats, a sports leather steering wheel, anthracite roof lining, Piano Black trim elements, darker dash dials, along with red stitching and trim detailing.
Standard equipment includes a high-end Harman/Kardon 10 speaker audio system, bluetooth hands-free kit with USB audio interface, and Bi-Xenon headlights with auto headlight control and rain sensor.
JCW GP limited edition (aka JCW GP II)
Sitting at the top of the MINI JCW tree is the limited edition JCW GP model. The fastest production MINI ever built, the GP boasts a 160kW race-tuned engine, specific "GP" mode for the traction control, as well as a bespoke racing suspension and braking system.
In this spec, the JCW GP has recorded an 8.23 minute lap of the iconic Nurburgring Nordschleife.
The GP also features a unique aero package, heated leather Recaro seats, a special knee roll and an exclusive additional paint choice - Thunder Grey metallic.
Just 55 units of the 2,000 produced have been allocated to the Australian market.
Kai Bruesewitz, general manager of the MINI brand in Australia, said he expected the latest MINI JCW models to be very popular.
