Monaro Concepts book
A new release from Eric Norton, author of 'Holden Milestones & Memories, Vol. 1' and '60 Fabulous years of Holden', 'Monaro Concepts' traces the evolution of GM-H's iconic muscle car.
The real value for Monaro fans in this book is the number of pre-production sketches and photographs that show the much-loved performance coupe could have looked very different to the form we're all familiar with.
Over 150 pages, Monaro Concepts use images of pre-production sketches, clay models, production models and period advertising and brochures to chart the evolution of the Monaro, from overall body style to front and rear end treatments, as well as interior studies.
Development of the three main Monaro generations (HK-T-G, HQ-J-X-Z and new-millenium V2) are detailed, but the focus on the first generation.
The earliest explorations of a two-door Holden, dating back to 1964, are covered, as well as the influence of Pontiac and other GM marques on the design. Perhaps more interesting are the 'what-if?' possibilities like a targa-roof version and the stillborn 'Marilyn' V2 convertible concept.
With a foreword by former GM-H Director of Design, Leo Pruneau, Monaro Concepts is a great read, and a perfect gift idea for the Holden or Monaro-lover in your life.
