Morgan introduce Plus 8 Speedster
To mark the centenary of Pickersleigh Road, Morgan will be producing a series of special edition vehicles, the first of which is the Plus 8 Speedster.
Power comes from a 367bhp (280kW) 4.8-litre BMW V8 engine, hooked up to either a 6-speed manual or ZF 6 speed automatic gearbox (auto is an extra-cost option). Performance from this package is quoted at 4.2 seconds for the 0-100kph dash, and a limited top speed of 236kph (148 mph).
Unlike the traditional Morgan wooden chassis componentry, the Plus 8 Speedster features the latest in aluminium chassis developments ensure that its performance and road-holding will match its looks. Morgan claim the new model boasts a power to weight ratio to rival any vehicle in its class.
Standard appointments for the _69,995 (AU$120,000 approx. excluding delivery and all ORCs) Plus 8 Speedster include cruise control, Xenon headlights with washers, leather-trimmed Motolita steering wheel, leather seats, body-coloured dash and an ambient lighting kit for the interior.
Exterior features include a fold-down aero screen, towing eyes, Union Jack bonnet badges and deleted door handles. Twelve exterior colours and two leather trim options (black or tan) are available, with a black tonneau cover and wing beading in blue common to all colour/trim choices. Standard wheels are 18-inch 'Aero' 5-spoke alloys, but 18-inch Speedster and 19-inch Aeromax wheels, in black or silver, are available as options.
Other extra-cost exterior options include an updated PVC, mohair hood, tonneau cover in different colours, door handles, bonnet strap, alternate colour wing beading, luggage rack, paint protection film, car cover and more.
Interior options include a wood-rim Motolita wheel, airbags, DIN sound system, air conditioning, heated seats, timber dash, alcantara trim and more.
Separate 'motorsport' options include side exit exhausts, a roll cage, aerodynamic wingtip louvres, carbon seats with 4-point harnesses, painted brake calipers and rubber floor mats.
Morgan are reporting strong interest in the Plus 8 Speedster from UK and European enthusiasts, with a number of orders already placed. Australian availability is yet to be confirmed.
