MX-5 sets new World Record
A total of 683 Mazda MX-5s joined the procession on the roads around the RDW Test Centre at Lelystad, forming the longest parade of driving Mazdas ever, shattering the previous record of 459 Mazda MX-5s set in Essen, Germany in 2010.
The parade through the Dutch polder (reclaimed) country was led by a third-gen (NC) racing MX-5, driven by Dutch TV presenter Allard Kalff, with President and CEO of Mazda Motor Europe, Jeff Guyton, riding shotgun.
After setting the new record, Guyton received the official certificate, presented by Guinness World Records™ adjudicator Pravin Patel.
MAX-5 participants also had the opportunity to extensively test Mazda's new i-ACTIVSENSE technology available in other Mazda vehicles, and had the chance to test drive models equipped with SKYACTIV technology.
Mazda's MX-5 also holds the title of the world's "best-selling two-seater sports car," selling over 900,000 units since production commenced in 1989.
