Order books open for new Ford GT
Prospective owners are invited to submit their application at thefordgt.comwebsite, a unique, customer-focused experience that Ford says is designed to help select potential owners for the new supercar. Once approved, applicants will then work with a new 'Ford GT Concierge Service' for a personalized purchase experience.
"The purchase process for the Ford GT is as unique as our all-new supercar," said Henry Ford III, global marketing manager, Ford Performance. "We understand GT customers are strong ambassadors for Ford Motor Company, and we look forward to providing them a service as distinct as the car itself."
Ford will not be producing the new GT in RHD, so Australian enthusiasts will need to look at other options, like local importation and conversion companies, to get a GT delivered to our shores.
In GT-approved markets, accepted applicants will be contacted by the concierge and provided with a tailored experience - not only through the ordering and delivery, but also through the years of ownership.
The fordgt.com website also offers a configurator that allows anyone to build a virtual GT and share their dream combination of exterior colour, wheels and interior themes through social media. Eight exterior colours can be paired with a choice of seven different stripe colours.
Only 500 units are scheduled for manufacture over the next two years (250 units per year), so demand is almost certain to exceed supply, especially if the race version of the new GT performs well on its return to the 24 Hour Le Mans race this year.
Pricing for the Ford GT is expected to start in the mid-US$400,000 range (excluding destination and delivery).
