Record year for Lamborghini
In what was already a milestone year for Automobili Lamborghini, with 2023 marking the Italian carmaker’s 60th Anniversary, there’s now another reason to celebrate. New vehicle deliveries last year exceeded 10,000 for the first time in the company’s history. Total deliveries of 10,112 Lamborghinis was not only a new record, but also a 10 per cent increase on 2022.
“It’s a true source of price for the whole company to have surpassed the 10,000-car delivery mark,” said Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann. “This is a success made possible by the commitment of everyone a major accomplishment, based on true teamwork.
“But, as always, we’re not stopping at single milestones and we’re ready to take on more exciting new challenges in 2024.”
Unsurprisingly, given the world’s love of SUVs, the Urus ‘Super SUV’ accounted for the bulk of last year’s record 10,112 total, with 6,087 delivered. The Huracan reached a new high with 3,962 deliveries, while the remainder was made up of 12 Aventadors and 51 one-offs created under Lamborghini’s Ad Personam tailoring service.
In terms of markets, the three main segments – EMEA, Americas and APAC – all recorded growth in 2023, with the biggest increase of 14 per cent being in the EMEA (Europe, Midde East, Africa) region. The USA was the biggest customer, with 3,000 units delivered, followed by Germany (961), China (845), the UK (801), Japan (660) and the Middle East (496). In its “home market,” Lamborghini achieved 409 deliveries last year, while 263 new Lambos came to Australia in 2023 – that’s more than France, India and Switzerland.
While Lamborghini are joining every other carmaker in moving toward electrification, it seems they won’t be losing any customers because of it, as the Revuelto V12 hybrid that was launched last year has orders that will cover production into 2026. The fully electric Lanzador concept that was also unveiled last year is expected to go into production in 2028.
