Shannons announce timed online auction
Combining lots from their Sydney and Melbourne auctions originally scheduled for May, Shannons online-only auction will run for two weeks, with bids open from 20 May and closing on 3 June.
Close to 100 lots have been consigned at time of writing, including 47 cars, seven motorcycles, 25 memorabilia lots and 22 Victorian and New South Wales black and white numerical Heritage number plates.
Ten Jaguars (including a 1953 XK120 SE roadster and a 1956 XK140 Fixed Head Coupe), six MGs (including two ‘no reserve’ projects – a 1955 MG TF 1500 and a rare 1958 MGA 1500 coupe – plus a 1968 MGC GT coupe) and six Mercedes-Benz models (including a 1960 190SL roadster at no reserve) have already been already consigned.
Also available are three sought-after Porsches, a rare 1949 Ford V8 ute and 1948 Chevrolet sedan delivery, 1933 Cadillac V12 sedan, 1976 Maserati Merak SS and 1972 Plymouth Barracuda coupe, as well as a 1970 Mini K1100, 2011 HSV GTS, 1971 Fiat Bambino 500F, split and bay window Kombi vans and a “matching pair” of red 1966 Ford Mustang convertibles: one in LHD, the other in RHD.
All auction items can now be previewed at https://www.shannons.com.au/, with walkaround videos of each car lot, static images, full lot details and individual vehicle history. As with live Shannons auctions, pre-inspection reports will be carried out on all cars and posted to the Shannons website prior to the 20 May opening of bids.
Those interested in more specific details of any lot can contact a Shannons auction advisor for a personal, real-time virtual video tour.
“We are offering a new and exciting development of our Classic Auction business,” said Shannons National Auction Manager, Christophe Boribon.
“We pioneered Classic Vehicle Auctions in Australia nearly 40 years ago and we remain its key player today. Enthusiasts look to us for leadership and with our online concept in these different times, we are delivering.
“The new Virtual Tour option is a perfect example. If you have a particular interest in any lot, or lots, you can inspect it by Facetime video or another platform in real time, while asking questions of the Shannons Auction Team member you are dealing with.
“More than 30 per cent of all our auction lots today are purchased sight unseen by phone and internet bidders, so in reality this is an exciting development for all enthusiasts, who could be anywhere in Australia, or overseas”.
