Just arrived - This genuine 1972 Holden HQ GTS Monaro Coupe is a gorgeous restored example. It began life in the Melbourne assembly plant as an original HQ GTS Monaro Coupe, fitted with a 253ci (4.2L) V8. The HQ received a six-year, complete restoration by a HDT mechanical engineer, beginning in 2005 and completed around 2010. It is now driven by a Chevrolet 350ci (5.7L) V8 crate engine, built to make 330hp, and a 3-speed Turbo400 automatic transmission with a B&M shifter. The HQ was stripped back to bare shell and rebuilt with all new or upgraded parts. Resprayed in a stunning, unique metallic Purple, the chromework was refurbished, and all the correct decals and bonnet and boot patterns were fitted. Every piece of the running gear, every bush, bearing, and grommet, has been replaced. The beautiful engine bay demonstrates power steering, a 750 Holley carburettor, an electronic ignition, an oil cooler, a transmission cooler, an alloy radiator with twin thermo fans, Genie headers, and a new chrome alternator. Underneath the car, it has been equipped with a HZ front end, Bilstein coils and shockers all round, and a twin exhaust system with side exits. Open the door to a lovely custom interior by Blackman & Son Motor trimmers in cream leather, a GTS wheel, a new carbon-faced dash with Autometer gauges, a new roof lining, new seatbelts, sunvisors, and armrests, and a hidden Pioneer Bluetooth radio. Other new pieces include new bonnet and door hinges, new colour-coded mirrors, all-new door and window rubbers, and a lovely set of GTS Sprint wheels from CTM Muscle. The HQ is an older restoration that still presents quite well, with upgrades centred around reliability and drivability. It comes with a small file, as well as the rights to the plates 'HQGTS3' if it stays in South Australia. Eligible for historic registration, you can enjoy minimal on-road costs as well as cruises with like-minded enthusiasts. This HQ is a lovely example that would make the perfect Sunday driver and addition to the shed.
