THE STORY
The initial four generations of Supra were produced between 1978 and 2002. Original styling was based on the Toyota Celica and used that car’s name as its prefix. In mid-1986 the A70 Supra became a separate model and in 1993 the fourth generation JZA80 model was released.
Toyota placed a great emphasis on the A80 Supra being a high-performance sports car with a twin turbocharged 3.0 litre straight-six engine option and a new six-speed Getag/Toyota V160 gearbox.
There was a concerted effort to reduce weight including an aluminium bonnet, front crossmember, oil and transmission pans. There was also hollow fibre carpets, a mag-alloy steering wheel, plastic fuel tank and lid and a single pipe exhaust.
The turbo engined cars achieved a 0-100kmph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 257 kmph – right up there with the supercars of the era. Road tests had the Supra beating the 3.6 litre Porsche 911 Turbo and the Aston Marin DB7.
The Supra had a Formula One inspired braking system. Turbo models had 4-piston front brake calipers and 2-piston rears and there was a tuned ABS system that had yaw control whereby each caliper had a sensor and the brakes were controlled individually according to the speed, angle and pitch of the approaching corner.
With a long, low bonnet and high-rise optional rear spoiler, the cars were aerodynamically efficient and stylish to behold.
THE CAR
Put very simply, this 1994 Toyota Supra is a weapon.
It is sporting a fully rebuilt 3.0 litre straight-6 engine with a single Precision GEN2 CEA turbo, HP compressor cover and 2JZGTE turbo manifold. We have been advised this car is capable of 1,400 HP.
A comprehensive engine overhaul and upgrade was undertaken by Jazmac Perfomance (known for their performance enhancements to Japanese engines). The engine build was performed by Chris Milton Engine Developments and the block was crack/sonic tested and acid bathed. This occurred during the period 2015 to 2022.
The dyno report to hand shows maximum 742.8HP using 30psi, E85 and Tune Link FuryX and 528.7HP using 18 psi and 98-octane fuel.
This car has been finished in a custom Gold paint in the style of the Top-Secret Tuning Company in Japan. It has a black interior and Velo racing seats and is clad in a premium Ridox Body Kit that is an aerodynamic upgrade specifically designed for the Mk4 Supra.
The kit includes carbon fibre side-skirts, front and rear diffusers, wide fenders and an aggressive wide facia design designed to improve airflow. The bonnet is carbon fibre and an Abflug Type 1 rear spoiler has been installed.
Highlights of the rebuild and modifications include a Hypertune manifold, new turbo intercooler, CP forged piston set, Supertech lifters and valves, reconditioning of the cylinder head, Koyo Racing 53mm alloy radiator, R35 ignition coil kit, a Walbrok high pressure fuel pump and cooling system modifications.
There is also a new starter motor, Race Primes Series suspension coil over set, all new suspension parts, front and rear sway bars, custom engine loom, custom tail shaft rated to 1,400 HP, a custom exhaust, Powertune dash cluster, clutch master and slave cylinders and an Optima battery.
The car has been treated to a 6-speed Tremic Magnum GM 2.66 transmission assembly, with DCS Billet twin plate clutch Hurst shifter stick.
The differential has a 4:10 gearing ratio and limited slip differential. There is a 4-inch downpipe with HKS 4-inch exhaust and the brakes are 6-piston front discs and 4-piston rears.
The rear seats have been removed to save weight on the track but come with the car and can be re-installed.
Standard Supra features including power windows, power steering and central locking all remain.
The car sits on Yokohama Advan Hyper Black semi-slick tyres and is begging to be thrown around the track.
