Seller's Description
THE STORY
Production of the Aston Martin DB9 commenced in 2003 and it was the first car built entirely by hand at Aston’s state-of-the-art facility in Warwickshire.
The 2005 iteration featured an updated 5.9 litre V12 power plant that put out 450 HP at 6,000 RPM with a smoother throttle response than earlier models.
In addition, Aston built the car using its “VH” (vertical/horizontal) aluminium and composite material platform which had incredible rigidity whist weighing 25% less than the previous DB7 model.
The cars could accelerate from 0-100kmph in 4.7 seconds with a top speed of 300 kmph.
Aston Martin Racing adopted the model for sports car racing and was widely praised for its design and engine.
Transmission options included a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automated manual (Touchtronic II) with paddle shifters.
The 2-door grand tourer came in coupe and convertible form and featured a spacious cabin trimmed in stitched leather. Buyers could opt for solid walnut, mahogany, bamboo, ash or a piano black finish inside.
The “swan-wing” doors were designed to open outwards and upwards for ease of access and to avoid high kerbs and the famous front grill was fashioned out of anodised aluminium.
