1957 Chevrolet Belair Two Door
After receiving a running car in poor condition at Superformance. It was completely stripped down to the last bolt, nut and washer.
Initial Discussions were based around a small block power plant
The customer after being influenced by others changed his mind and discussed this at length with Superformance.
It was always going to be blown but now with more cubes the old chassis was not going to cut the mustard.
Strengthening the chassis was a necessity so Superformance CAD designed a custom k member, which was then built.
The C section chassis was fully welded with the new k member installed.
Rear suspension was moved inbound to accommodate the massive tyres 20 inches tall by 325 wide.
At the heart of the beast Superformance built a killer street engine with all the best parts.
Dart Block, Dart Pro 1 Heads, Scat Stroker assembly topped off and fed by a BDS supercharger show polished fed by boost referenced carburettors.
The block was deburred and painted to show standard by Superformance.
A must go to Crow Cams for a killer camshaft. The beast made a well over 750 horsepower on pump fuel with a mild tune.
Transmission is a Superformance TH400 with Superformance high stall torque converter.
Differential built by Superformance is a 31 Spline Tru Trac with Currie polished centre and huge Wilwood brakes.
A custom set of Instruments, bucket seats and a B & M sifter complete the interior.
All wiring was hidden from the Engine bay and custom polished stainless steel exhaust completes the underside.
Rear suspension was moved inboard to accommodate the high rear tyres.
Wheels are billet specialties polished items and compliment the magic gloss black paint.
A custom fuel tank and Speedflow lines provide fuel to the engine.
A PWR radiator core with custom built Superformance end tanks complete a radiator that is more than up to the task.
Pioneer sound in the interior is drowned out by BDS’s finest.
Upon completion by Superformance the owner was offered an ocean front apartment at the Gold Coast as a direct swap.
The owner turned the offer down and commented that he had not waited this long and worked so hard for such a long time to swap this beautiful 57 for anything.
