Aus allocation of Toyota Supra increased
Released in February, the new allocation will supplement the 345 examples of the Supra sold in Australia so far (to the end of January, 2020).
"Being able to import an additional allocation of cars means enthusiasts can now achieve their GR Supra dream sooner than expected,” said Toyota Australia Vice President Sales and Marketing Sean Hanley.
Later this year, an updated version of the Supra will be released, with additional power and suspension improvements.
The current GR Supra produces 250kW and 500Nm from its turbocharged 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine, but the update will add an additional 35kW for 285kW max power.
The addition of a strut brace will be part of refinements in handling that will deliver what Toyota says is “even greater rigidity” and stay true to the Supra’s mantra of continual evolution.
Other standard Supra features will be unchanged for the update, including the sports-tuned eight-speed automatic transmission, launch control function, active cruise control, 18-inch wheels (on the Supra GT) and an expansive suite of safety technologies that includes lane departure alert, active speed limiter, blind spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, a reversing camera and pre-collision warning with autonomous braking and daytime pedestrian/cyclist detection.
To this, the Supra GTS adds 19-inch wheels, head-up display, sports pedals and a premium JBL 12-speaker sound system. GTS options include Alcantara interior trim and matte grey paint.
Arrival time for the updated Supra has not been confirmed, nor has pricing, but Toyota Australia says there will be an increase over the current $84,900 starting price for the Supra GT ($94,900 for the Supra GTS). Toyota adds that the upgrade is expected to be even more limited in number than the current version.
