Bugatti launches classic certification programme
The programme has been in development since last September and will be rolled out gradually, starting with certification services only. Led by Luigi Galli, specialist for Tradition and Certification at Bugatti, the team at La Maison Pur Sang (‘The Thoroughbred House’ in English) will determine the provenance and authenticity of individual historic Bugatti automobiles, using all available information, from historical documents and admission registers, to photos and even the comparison of certain component numbers.
Following successive stages of expansion, the restoration of historic Bugatti automobiles – from the Type 10 to the EB 110 SS - will be carried out in the future. Whether these restorations will be conducted in-house at Bugatti’s Molsheim factory, at a separate facility or outsourced to specialists (like Pur Sang in Argentina who currently build accurate reproductions of classic Bugattis) is unconfirmed.
“Tradition and history are a great privilege, but also a great responsibility for us,” said Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti.
“We’re conscious of our 110+ years of tradition and want to enable many of our historical vehicles to continue to drive perfectly on the road or to be in collections even after decades.
"With 'La Maison Pur Sang', we offer an official framework for these automotive treasures. It is very important to protect and preserve Bugatti's tradition and heritage, as well as the existing knowledge of the brand.”
At the same event, Bugatti announced a loyalty programme for Veyron owners that includes warranty extension with regular maintenance at a Bugatti-approved partner. In line with the La Maison Pur Sang programme, restoration services will also be available on the Veyron in the future.
