Once installed and connected to a switched power outlet, the camera is fully automated: the cam records a wide angle view of the road when the engine is turned on and stops when it is turned off.

 

An integrated gravity sensor (G-Sensor) automatically detects incidents, such as braking or a collision, and saves the relevant video files.

 

The unit is also available with (DashCam 20) and without (DashCam 10) GPS. The 20's GPS receiver time-stamps and geo-tags all footage, so users can view exactly where and when events occurred.

 

DashCam records 1080p, 720p or WVGA video files, using the included 4 GB microSD™ card. A larger microSD card (up to 32 GB) can be added. The integrated microphone also provides the option of recording audio inside the vehicle.

 

A 2.3-inch colour display makes it easy to review video right on the device, while the suction mount enables the unit to be removed to shoot close-up views of vehicle or property damage.

 

Released this month, Garmin DashCam 10 retails for $299, while the GPS-equipped DashCam 20 comes with an RRP of $339 from major stockists.www.garmin.com.au
