Oscar Piastri grandstand coming for 2026 Australian F1 GP
As Oscar Piastri edges closer to becoming Australia’s first Formula 1 World Drivers’ Champion since Alan Jones in 1980, it’s been announced that the Melbourne-born driver will be honoured at his home circuit.
A new grandstand at the Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit will be named after the 24-year-old, joining others named after Aussie drivers, like Jones, Jack Brabham, Daniel Ricciardo, Mark Webber and Arthur Waite.

The Piastri Grandstand will be located on the main straight, opposite pit lane. The Fangio Grandstand that’s already in this space will remain, with the existing structure expanding and splitting into two – Piastri and Fangio. The Piastri Grandstand will incorporate the most premium and sought after seats, closest to the start-finish line.
“I’m very excited by the news that I’ll have my own grandstand at next year’s Australian Grand Prix,” said Piastri. “It feels very surreal, and I never thought this would happen, but the support is incredible and I can’t wait to see it all come together next March.

“Seeing all the fans in my own grandstand directly opposite the McLaren garage is going to be an amazing experience and I’m really looking forward to feeling the energy and the atmosphere.
“Thanks to everyone who has made this happen and thanks in advance to everyone who wants to be part of it. Australian fans always turn out to support me and this is an extra reason why I can’t wait to race in Melbourne in 2026.”

Australian Grand Prix Corporation CEO, Travis Auld, added: “It is only fitting that we honour Oscar’s incredible rise in the sport with a dedicated grandstand at his home Grand Prix.
“Australians take enormous pride in supporting our sporting talent as they compete on the world stage, and now Oscar’s fans will have the opportunity to take that support to another level by sitting in a grandstand named in his honour.”

The Formula 1 Qatar Airways Australian Grand Prix 2026 is scheduled for 5-8 March. Tickets go on sale on 10 September, 2025, with general admission passes starting at $45.
