TURBO CAMARO UNVEILED

A movie about snails doesn't sound like much of a forum for performance cars, but in "Turbo," the upcoming animated feature from DreamWorks Animation, that's exactly the premise - and GM have got in board to promote the film.

The story revolves around a little snail that dreams of being fast. After a hit of nitrous - thanks to a hopped-up current model Camaro - the little snail gains super speed and pursues his dream of racing in the Indianapolis 500.

Set for release in the US summer, Turbo was previewed recently, with Chevrolet creating a real-life replica of the custom Camaro drag car featured in the movie.

Turbo represents the first time that Chevrolet and DreamWorks have collaborated, with the car company's involvement claimed to add a greater layer of authenticity to the movie's racing-themed storyline.

The one-off replica Camaro was created under the direction of Steve Tihanyi, GM's General Director for Branded Entertainment, and James Bell, GM's Head of Consumer Affairs.

An Australian release date for 'Turbo' has yet to be confirmed.
