‘Mad Max Factory’ to build Mad Max movie car replicas

In an announcement that’s sure to get fans of the iconic Mad Max movie franchise excited, a company called Mad Max Factory has unveiled a limited collection of officially licensed Mad Max replica vehicles. Covering cars from 1979’s original Mad Max, 1981’s Mad Max 2, 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road, and 2024’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, a total of 25 vehicles will form the inaugural collection, created in Australia for serious collectors and movie car fans who re seeking more than nostalgia or static display pieces.

The full-size, functional replica cars that Mad Max Factory are intending to build have been developed under the supervision of George Miller, the renowned director of the Mad Max franchise, and Doug Mitchell, who was a co-producer on Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, and producer on Mad Max: Fury Road and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Each vehicle to be produced by Mad Max Factory will be engineered to preserve what they describe as “the raw mechanical language that defined Mad Max for more than four decades - steel, noise, fuel, aggression, and survival.”

Mad Max Factory say they’re not chasing a soft, polished, digital idea of performance with these builds. Each car will be a “film perfect” replica, looking and feeling like they belong in a world where guzzoline matters, Aqua Cola matters, and post-apocalyptic reliability matters more than comfort! Remaining faithful to how these cars were presented in cinematic form, each build preserves the physicality and visual intensity that made these cars globally recognisable.

“These vehicles were never meant to feel polished or soft,” said Giuseppe Cassin, Director of Film & Strategic Partnerships for Mad Max Factory. “They were built to feel functional, brutal and real, and that’s exactly what we wanted to preserve.”

At a time when much of the automotive world is becoming increasingly digital and automated, Mad Max Factory’s approach remains intentionally analogue, mechanical and hands‑on.

Cars revealed so far include Roop and Charlie’s ‘Big Bopper’ MFP Interceptor, based on an XB Falcon sedan, and Sarse and Scuttle’s ‘March Hare,’ based on an XA Falcon sedan. Max Rockatansky and The Dark One’s yellow XB Falcon Interceptor is listed, along with “The Last of the V8 Interceptors” – an XB Falcon hardtop Pursuit Special. That car will include authentic details, like the Concorde front clip, roof and tail spoilers, side exit exhausts, and a Weiand supercharger.

From Mad Max: Fury Road, the bare metal XB Falcon hardtop, known as ‘Razor Cola,’ will be part of the initial release of cars, as will the ‘Cranky Black’ Ford Model A-based hot rod from Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga that features off-road buggy suspension and a turbocharged V8.
