Elvis Cadillac sells for US$172K at US auction
Bonhams' "Classic California" auction on November 12 auction featured a diverse collection of vehicles, from veterans to classics, late model performance cars to big dollar hot rods and customs, but the celebrity offerings were the highlights. In addition to the vehicles being auction at the Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles, motoring memorabilia and genuine artwork from the likes of Von Dutch and Ed "Big Daddy" Roth were thrown into the mix as well.
Prize Piazza donated to National Motor Museum
While it's been largely forgotten now, Holden's Piazza was a car synonymous with the 80s. Filling the 'performance coupe' gap in GMH's lineup between the demise of the Torana and the arrival of the new Monaro, the Isuzu-sourced Piazza had its merits, but never really "found the love" with Australian drivers.

Jaguar's fastest and most-powerful open-topped GT ever built, the XKR-S Convertible blasts from 0-100km/h in a giddy 4.4 seconds. Its lightweight architecture belies exceptional torsional rigidity, making it the stiffest car in its class.

Driving the GT3, the racing version of the Ferrari 458 Italia road car, Allan Simonsen clocked a blistering 2:04.9560 time around the 6.2 km track during a practice session.
Jaguar XF runs on oily rag

Fast & Furious Supra features at Bonhams LA auction
Bonhams' recent "Classic California" auction event, held at the Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles, had a major touch of "Hollywood" about it, with cars from the movies amongst the consignments. Celebrity-owned cars were also part of the November 12 event, including a Cadillac originally owned by Elvis, and a Mercedes owned by Madonna.

Engineered to Slide - Custom-Built Hilux Drift Ute
For Nigel Petrie, 'Engineered to Slide' really covers two things: what he does; and what he loves. Away from his full-time position as a fitter and turner, Nigel devotes time to building cars to compete in drifting competitions under the 'Engineered to Slide' name. Nigel's current drift machine is a Nissan 180SX, but a desire to create something different led him to start this impressive project, based around a Toyota Hilux utility. While still a 'work in progress', this project has already made a big impact in the drifting scene. Ahead of the recent 'DriftAttack' event at Victoria's Calder Park, Nigel took some time to explain more about his unique creation.

Pioneer hot rod resto
One of the stars from the early days of Australian hot rodding, in the form of the ex-Dick Bushell 1933 Ford coupe, was recently offered for sale with JUST CARS. Given the significance of this vehicle, we thought it was worthy of closer attention, so we spent some time with the current owner, Rod Henderson, to discuss the history, acquisition and restoration of this important hot rod.
Trekking the Vic/SA Border Track
For a taste of the Outback, an interesting and relatively isolated region is the western extremity of Victoria where it joins South Australia. For much of the State border between the two States, a track - which four-wheel drivers naturally call the "Border Track" - runs south from the Murray River.

White on Fire at Targa High Country
The Tasmanian was heading in to the final stage trailing Tony Quinn in his Nissan GT-R by 4 seconds. White knew he needed to pull out all the tricks with his Lamborghini on the final run up Mt Buller. The spectators and fellow competitors were expecting him to light up the mountain on the final run of the day, but never expected to see the flames from the rear of the Gallardo!
1960 Cadillac Coupe de Ville
Love it or hate it, the 1959 Cadillac is one of those cars everyone is familiar with. Seen through modern eyes, it's a prime example of styling excess. To an extent, the same sentiment was expressed when the Cadillac was new.
